The City of Abbotsford is on the cusp of a significant transformation with the upcoming construction of the new transit exchange on Montrose Avenue. This project is a cornerstone in the city’s efforts to enhance public transportation infrastructure in downtown Abbotsford.

Location: The new exchange is strategically positioned on Montrose Avenue, flanked by McDougall Avenue and South Fraser Way, close to Archway Community Services.
Timeline: Announced to commence shortly, the construction is ambitiously scheduled for completion by the end of summer 2024.

This development was pinpointed as a crucial element within the city’s 2018 Transportation and Transit Master Plan and the BC Transit Future Action Plan, highlighting its integral role in Abbotsford’s transportation strategy.


Construction Impacts:
Expectations include manageable traffic disruptions, with assurances of maintained local access. Pedestrian detours will be established to ensure accessibility and safety around the construction site.

The project benefits from a collaborative funding effort, featuring a significant contribution of $2.2 million from the province’s Growing Communities Fund, with a total investment of $8.4 million.
